Sexual Harassment Law in California Requires Training

Sexual harassment law in California mandates at least 60 minutes of training every two years for non-supervisory employees. Training must occur within 6 months of beginning the position, except for temporary or seasonal employees. Those workers must receive training within 30 days of starting their position.   • The elements of an effective anti-harassment policy and how to use it
  • “Abusive conduct” under Government Code section 12950.1, subdivision (g)(2)
  • Harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, which shall include practical examples inclusive of harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation

Finally, any training delivered to comply with sexual harassment law in California must include questions that assess learning, skill-building activities to assess understanding and application of content, and hypothetical scenarios about harassment with discussion questions.
