Role-based Security Awareness Training

Securing Your Human Firewall® goes beyond general awareness courses with role-based options. Global Learning Systems’ Role-based Security Awareness Training options include three role-based courses for federal, state and local customers. In addition to our courses listed below, we can create a custom role-based course for any compliance course and any role of your choice.

With the wide range of information security laws, regulations, and directives that a federal agency or department may be subject to, it is not unusual for IT staff to be unsure what rules apply. The purpose of these role-based online courses is to identify key federal government sources for IT security compliance requirements, and to explore how these can affect an organization's internal policies and the responsibilities of specific roles to include: IT administrators & engineers, security specialists, and security managers.

Key Topics

All the courses listed below cover these primary topics, and includes a short culminating test:

Aligned by the requirements of the federal, state and local governments, the below courses meet the NIST, FISMA, HIPAA, and FedRAMP guidelines. Visit this page for information on our Secure Coding OWASP Top 10 course, and for general awareness course options for your end-users, click here

The Importance of Role-based Courses

All Federal Agencies and service providers supporting Federal Agencies must implement requirements specified in FISMA and OMB which outline the necessity for a strong IT security program implementation. It is vital that those in the agency who are managing the IT infrastructure have the necessary skills to effectively carry out their assigned duties and support the mission. Significant attention should be given to training agency IT users on security policy, procedures, and techniques, as well as the various management, operational, and technical controls necessary and available to secure IT resources. Failure to provide attention to specific security roles puts an organization at high risk because breaches are as much of a human issue as a technological issue.

Offer Your Course to Specific Roles to Enhance Security

Role-based courses provide security leaders with an overview of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance, which has been adopted by federal agencies as the operating security standard. While everyone has a role to play, agency heads, CIOs, program officials, and IT security program managers have key responsibilities to ensure that effective training is established. Training content must be tied to existing security guidance, standards and policies. If you are, however, looking for a general security awareness training related to any audience visit this page.
